About Uma
I taught secondary science for a long stretch, then coordinated teaching and learning across a school, which meant planning, observing lessons and helping colleagues through every new initiative. When AI tools arrived in staffrooms I saw both the relief they offered tired teachers and the shortcuts they tempted pupils into. I now teach teachers and school leaders how to use AI for planning, feedback and inclusion while keeping pupil data safe and keeping the thinking in the right heads. I work from real lessons, real policies and real dilemmas, and I am honest when the answer is that AI is the wrong tool.

The hinge question lesson changed how I use it. I named the misconception about heating particles and got options that actually split my class. I still rewrote one, but it took ten minutes instead of forty.

As a librarian with no tech background I needed this. The deepfakes lesson was handled carefully and gave me the safeguarding wording I lacked.

We went from a ten page draft nobody read to two pages of principles plus a staff guide. The vendor question list made our DPO very happy.

The angry parent email lesson was the most useful. The draft was calmer than I would have been at 9pm, though I still cut half of it.

The fruit sorter game is now a fixture in my Year 4 computing unit. One boy explained data bias to his dad at parents' evening.

Finally someone who treats the AI draft as a draft. My planning template now has my school's data rule written at the top so I never forget.
