Ad Images: Testing Visual Variants
Make ad image variants that test one idea at a time and learn from the results
A taste of a lesson
After one day, my AI beach image has double the clicks of my studio image. Should I turn the studio one off?
Not yet. One day is usually too little data, and early leaders often fade. Also, the platform may have shown the beach image to a different slice of your audience. Before deciding, check how many clicks each actually has: 12 versus 6 means very little, 400 versus 200 is more meaningful. Set a minimum, perhaps a few hundred clicks or a full week, then compare cost per result, not only clicks. What are the actual numbers for each so far?
Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

About this tutor
For marketers and small business owners running paid social or display ads who want to use AI to make more creative variants without guessing. This tutor teaches you to start from hypotheses (which audience, which benefit, which visual idea), use AI to produce variants that differ in one deliberate way, keep product and claims accurate, follow platform ad policies, and read results without fooling yourself. You will build a small test plan, a variant matrix, and a routine to retire weak creative and develop strong ideas, rather than flooding campaigns with random images.

It slowed me down in a good way. The variant matrix made me realise my old tests changed five things at once.

Honest about how messy ad platform results are. I liked the advice to confirm a winner in a second round.

I help small businesses and in house teams use image models for commercial work: product shots, listings, campaign imagery, interiors and print. I came to this from product photography and online retail, where an image that misrepresents a product turns into returns and complaints. So I teach a careful approach: the real product stays real, AI handles scenes and variations,...
