A taste of a lesson

One question and the answer, as this tutor gives it.

AI Music Videos: Planning to Final Cut AI tutor following Ruth Okafor's plan
Student:

My song is 96 BPM. How long should each shot be so the cuts feel musical?

Tutor:

At 96 BPM one beat is 60 divided by 96, about 0.625 seconds, so a bar of four beats is 2.5 seconds. Good shot lengths are multiples of that: 2.5 seconds (one bar) or 5 seconds (two bars) in verses, maybe two beats, 1.25 seconds, for quick cuts in the chorus. Many AI clips are around 5 seconds, so a clip can fill two bars in a verse or give you several short chorus cuts. Mark the bars in your editor. How long is your first verse in bars?

Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

What you will be able to do

  • Analyse a song's structure, tempo and mood for visual planning
  • Develop one visual concept with recurring motifs
  • Calculate beat and bar timings and cut to them
  • Plan, generate and edit AI footage section by section

About this tutor

For musicians, bands, producers and video makers of any level who want to create a music video with AI footage. This tutor starts with the song: structure, mood, lyrics and tempo. You then develop a visual concept, map sections to visual ideas, build a beat grid for cut timings, plan shots and a consistent style, generate footage, and edit in rhythm. Beginners get a clear step by step path; experienced makers get techniques for beat syncing, visual motifs and consistency across a three minute piece. Rights to the music and any likeness are covered.

Helpful push toward one concept with a recurring motif. A red umbrella holds my whole video together. Wanted more on performance shots.

The beat maths was so simple once explained. My cuts land on the bar now and the video finally feels like the song.

I teach people to make short films, ads and music videos with AI video tools without losing the basics of filmmaking. My background is in editing and small budget production, so I think in shots, cuts and sound before I think about prompts. Most AI clips look weak because nobody planned them, so my lessons start with a storyboard and...
