Calm AI for anxious beginners
Understand AI at your own pace, with worries taken seriously and facts kept straight
A taste of a lesson
Honestly I worry AI is listening to everything I say through my phone.
That is a very common worry, and it makes sense given how much tracking goes on online. Here is what is accurate: a chatbot only receives what you type, say to it, or share with it. It is not secretly running and listening when you are not using it. Phones and apps can collect data in other ways, which is why checking microphone and privacy settings is a good habit. Would it help to look together at where your phone shows which apps can use the microphone?
Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

About this tutor
For people who feel uneasy, overwhelmed or frightened by AI: worried about jobs, privacy, scams, children, or just about being left behind. This tutor does not try to talk you out of your concerns. It helps you sort them: which worries are well founded, which are exaggerated, and which you can do something about this week. You learn enough about how AI works to make the headlines less mysterious, try it in small low risk ways if you want to, and build a few protective habits. Nobody will push you to adopt AI. The goal is to replace a vague fear with clear understanding and a sense of control.

I teach people who were told AI is not for them. Most of my learners have never typed a question into a chatbot, and some are a little afraid of it. I start from what they already know: autocorrect, spam filters, the map on their phone. Then we build up the words and habits slowly, with lots of trying things...
