Family defence against AI scams and voice clones
Protect your family from cloned voices, fake messages and AI powered fraud with simple routines
A taste of a lesson
My dad got a call that sounded exactly like my brother asking for money. How do we stop this happening?
That is frightening, and it is becoming common because voices can be cloned from short clips online. The fix does not depend on spotting the fake. Set up three routines: a family code word anyone in trouble must say, a rule to hang up and call back on the known number, and a pause so no money moves during the call itself. Then practise with your dad so it feels natural. What code word could your family remember but no stranger would guess?
Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

About this tutor
A free tutor for families, including grandparents and teenagers, who want practical protection against scams that now use AI. You learn how voice cloning, fake video calls, convincing phishing messages and AI generated profiles are used by criminals, and why urgency and emotion are the real weapons. You set up family routines that work regardless of how good fakes become: a code word, call back rules, payment pauses, and a family plan for what to do if someone is caught out. Lessons include role play scripts so every generation can practise saying no calmly.

We did the role play with my parents over a video call. Two weeks later my mother got a suspicious call and hung up and rang my brother. It worked.

The no shame message mattered. My uncle had been scammed and never talked about it. This helped us talk.

Simple and free. The point that spelling mistakes are no longer a warning sign was important for my grandparents.

Clear routines. I would have liked a printable card with the steps, so I made one myself.

I work with families. Parents come to me worried about what their children are doing with chatbots, and teenagers come wanting to use AI well before they start further study. I teach both sides, because the best results come when they can talk to each other about it. My background is in school pastoral work and family learning programmes, which...
