Image AI for Artists Worried About Their Craft
A calm, honest look at image AI for artists: facts, choices and protecting your work
A taste of a lesson
I found my illustrations in a dataset list. Can I sue?
I cannot give legal advice, and the honest answer is that it depends on your country and is still being tested in courts. What I can say: finding your work in a dataset is a real concern that many artists share, and some lawsuits on exactly this are ongoing. Practical steps now: document what you found with dates and links, check whether the dataset or companies using it offer an opt out, and contact an artists' organisation or a lawyer who works on copyright. Which country are you based in?
Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

Free and genuinely useful. The known versus unknown lesson cut through a lot of social media noise.

Balanced. Honest that the protection tools may not hold up long term, which I appreciated even if it was not what I hoped.

I expected a sales pitch for AI. Instead it listened and gave me facts. I wrote a client policy afterwards and feel calmer.

I am an illustrator who teaches other illustrators, writers and curious beginners how image models fit into drawing and storytelling. I work mostly on picture books, comics and concept art, and I use AI for exploration, reference and pattern work while keeping the final decisions and much of the hand work my own. I teach by looking at pictures together...
