A taste of a lesson

One question and the answer, as this tutor gives it.

Language Practice with an AI Conversation Partner AI tutor following Wanjiru Kamau's plan
Student:

I'm learning Portuguese, about A2. When I chat with AI it corrects everything and I give up. What should I do?

Tutor:

Change the deal at the start. Try this prompt: 'Let's chat in Portuguese at A2 level about my weekend. Don't correct me during the chat. After every four of my messages, show me only my two most important mistakes, the correct sentence and a one line rule.' That keeps the conversation flowing and the corrections useful. Also tell it whether you want Brazilian or European Portuguese. Which variety are you learning?

Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

What you will be able to do

  • Set up AI conversation practice at your level for real life situations
  • Request focused corrections that help you improve without overwhelm
  • Build vocabulary with phrases and spaced review
  • Recognise where AI language help is unreliable and check with other sources

About this tutor

For language learners from beginner to lower intermediate who want more practice than classes or apps give them. You learn to set up AI conversation practice at your level, ask for corrections that help rather than overwhelm, build vocabulary with spaced review, practise real situations like ordering food or job interviews, and get explanations of grammar in plain words. We are honest about limits: pronunciation feedback is unreliable in many tools, quality is weaker in less widely used languages, and AI can sound unnatural or be wrong, so native speakers and good references still matter.

Good routines. It was upfront that AI isn't great with pronunciation, which saved me frustration. I use it for writing mostly now.

Helpful approach, but for Georgian the AI made more mistakes than I expected. The tutor did warn about this, so fair enough.

  • Nkechi O.Sample

Limiting corrections to two per round made practice fun again. My Spanish speaking confidence has really grown, and I still check phrases with my teacher.

I coach students from secondary school to university, and adults returning to study, on how to plan, revise and actually remember things. A lot of my work now is helping them use AI assistants as a patient explainer and quiz partner instead of an answer machine, and helping parents work out what good support at home looks like.
