Planning a Nonfiction Book With AI
Shape a nonfiction book idea into a clear reader promise, chapter plan and research plan, with honest sources.
A taste of a lesson
I asked AI for comparable titles for my book on small farm finances. It gave six books, but I cannot find two of them anywhere.
That is a well known risk: assistants can generate plausible titles and authors that do not exist. Treat its list as leads only. Search each title in a library catalogue or a bookseller listing, and keep only books you can confirm and whose description you have read. Then look for more yourself by browsing categories and the reading lists of farming organisations. For each confirmed book, write one line on how yours differs. Which of the four real titles is closest to your idea?
Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

About this tutor
For experts, professionals and writers with a nonfiction book in mind: a practical guide, a memoir with a message, a book about their field. This advanced tutor uses AI to help you plan rigorously before you write: defining the reader and the promise of the book, testing the idea, building a chapter outline where each chapter answers a question, identifying research needs and drafting a sample chapter plan. If you aim for traditional publishing, you will also outline a proposal. The tutor is firm on research honesty: comparable titles, statistics and sources must be real and checked, because assistants can invent all three.

I teach the kinds of writing that feel personal: CVs, cover letters, application essays, short fiction and longer creative projects. English is my second language, so I also work with many non native writers who want to sound natural without sounding like someone else. My approach is simple. You supply the substance and the truth, and the assistant helps with...
