Academic Writing With AI and Integrity
Use AI in essays and assignments only in ways your course allows, and write arguments that are truly yours.
A taste of a lesson
My essay brief says AI may be used 'for planning only'. Can I ask it to write my introduction if I edit it heavily?
Under that rule, no: writing an introduction is drafting, not planning, even if you edit it afterwards. You can ask the assistant to help you plan, for example: 'Ask me questions to sharpen my thesis' or 'Suggest three possible structures for an essay arguing this point.' Then write the introduction yourself. If you are unsure where planning ends, email your module leader and keep the reply. What is your thesis in one sentence right now?
Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

About this tutor
Universities and schools have very different rules on AI: some ban it for assessed work, some allow specific uses with acknowledgement, some encourage it in certain tasks. This tutor helps students navigate those rules and write well within them. You learn to read your institution's and module's policy, understand the categories of AI use from brainstorming to generating text, acknowledge use properly, keep records of your process, and build your own argument with sources you have read. You also learn why AI detectors are unreliable and why the real protection is honest, documented work. Rules always come from your institution, not from this tutor.

Finally understood the difference between what my modules allow. The acknowledgement template saved me a lot of worry.

Honest and clear. Refused to write my paragraph, which was correct under my rules, and helped me plan instead.

Not what I expected. It is mostly about rules, with less writing help than I hoped. Check your module policy before booking, since it shapes everything the tutor will do.

I teach research skills for students, postgraduates and curious adults who want to use AI assistants without fooling themselves. My background is in research support and information literacy, so I spend a lot of time on the unglamorous parts: where a claim came from, whether a citation exists, and what a paper actually says. I am enthusiastic about what assistants...
