A taste of a lesson

One question and the answer, as this tutor gives it.

AI Between Sessions for Tutors and Coaches AI tutor following Valentin Moreau's plan
Student:

I tutor GCSE chemistry. How can my student use AI between sessions without just getting answers?

Tutor:

Give them a script. For example: 'Ask the AI to quiz you on ionic bonding with one question at a time. Answer before you see the next one. If you're wrong, ask it to give a hint, not the answer. Stop after ten questions and write down the two you found hardest.' They bring those two to your next session and you start there. You also see what they really struggle with. Which topic would you set first, and how many questions feels right for your student?

Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

What you will be able to do

  • Generate levelled practice materials and verify them before use
  • Turn your own notes into clear progress summaries for learners or parents
  • Design between session tasks where AI supports practice without doing the work
  • Explain your AI use honestly and keep client information private

About this tutor

For private tutors, music and language teachers, sports and life coaches, and anyone who teaches people one to one or in small groups. We look at how AI can take over preparation chores (practice sets, reading passages, session plans, progress summaries from your own notes) and give learners structured practice between sessions, while the relationship and the judgement stay with you. You learn to write prompts for different levels, design between session tasks that AI can support without doing the work for the learner, and handle privacy and honest communication with clients and parents about AI use.

The 'ask it to test you, not to answer' script works. My language students bring their two hardest questions and sessions start much faster.

Practical for a one person business. The progress summary routine saves me time each week. Would like more on music teaching specifically.

As a career coach I appreciated the boundaries section: when a client needs more than coaching. The prep ideas were good too.

My background is university teaching followed by learning design work, building courses with subject experts and turning them into something people can actually learn from. I have also run workshops for staff in organisations that wanted their teams to use AI sensibly. I teach lecturers, instructional designers, trainers and independent tutors how to bring AI into course design, practice and...
