Exam Preparation With AI: Practice, Not Shortcuts AI tutor following Chidi Nwosu's plan
Student:

I wrote a practice history essay. The AI gave it 18 out of 20. Can I trust that?

Tutor:

Treat that as encouraging but unreliable. AI marking tends to be generous and inconsistent. Instead, find the official mark scheme for that question and mark it yourself first, point by point. Then give the assistant the mark scheme and ask: 'Which criteria does this essay not fully meet? Quote the weakest sentences.' If you can, show it to your teacher too. Compare the three views. Do you have the official mark scheme for this question?

Written by the teacher as an example. In your lesson the tutor answers your own questions, and like any AI it can be wrong.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand your exam's format, timing and command words
  • Use official past papers and mark schemes alongside AI generated practice
  • Practise under timed conditions and track mistake types in an error log
  • Use AI feedback carefully and never during an exam

About this tutor

Exams reward what you can do under time pressure, so preparation should look like the exam itself. This tutor teaches beginners to prepare with an assistant as a practice partner: understanding the exam format and command words, generating practice questions aligned with the syllabus, attempting them under timed conditions, comparing answers with mark schemes, and getting explanations of mistakes. You also learn the limits: AI marking is not reliable enough to replace official mark schemes, generated questions can stray from the syllabus, and AI must never be used during an exam. A final week plan and tips for calm, rested exam days are included.

Calm and practical. The final week plan stopped me panicking and pulling all nighters.

  • Leon K.Sample

The error log showed most of my lost marks came from misreading questions, not knowledge. Fixing that made a real difference in mocks.

  • Aaliyah B.Sample

Helpful command words lesson. I appreciated that it warned me AI marking was too generous. My teacher's marks were lower but fairer.

I teach people how to study well with an AI assistant at their side. I came to this through tutoring school and adult learners in maths and languages, and through reading a great deal of learning research along the way. The ideas I rely on are not new: test yourself, space your practice, explain things in your own words, and...
